Twenty graduates from the “Buccari” Nautical Institute are ready to set sail: into the sea, but also into the professional world. The twelve months of paid boarding are part of the second phase of the “Senior Technician for the Operation of Merchant Ships” course, born from an initiative by the Cagliari technical institute in Viale Colombo and the Regional Labor Agency.
The objective: to train ten engine officer cadets and ten deck officer cadets. The project was presented this morning during a press conference at the Cruise Terminal of Molo Ichnusa. “They will embark,” said the director of the Agency, Stefano Tunis, “boys chosen from among the best students: young people who have bet on their future. A comfortable life certainly does not await them, but it is an important step for their lives and their passion.” The Labor Agency is contributing to the initiative with funding of 200,000 euros. The students will embark on ships belonging to the companies Augusta Due, Montanari, Synergas, and Marnavi. This will be a fundamental stage for obtaining professional qualification as an officer by passing the exam at the Port Authorities. The first phase of the course took place in the classroom with seven hundred hours of lessons: now, however, it is time to set sail.
