Twenty students graduated from the “Buccari” vessel ready to sail: at sea, but also in the world of work. The twelve months of paid onboard training are part of the second phase of the course “Senior Technician for the Operation of Merchant Ships”, developed through an initiative of the Technical Institute of Cagliari Viale Colombo and the regional employment agency.
The objective: to train ten deck students and an equal number of engine officers. The project was presented this morning during a press conference at the Cruise Terminal at Pier Ichnusa. “We are embarking – stated the Director, Stephen Tunis – selected from among the best young students: young people who have invested in their future. Certainly a comfortable life does not await them, but this is an important step in their lives and their passion.” The employment agency contributes to the initiative with funding of 200 thousand euros. The students will embark on the vessels of the companies Augusta, Montanari, Synergas, and Marnavi. It will be a significant professional achievement for the officers upon successful completion of the examination at the Harbor Office. The first phase of the course took place in the classroom with seven hundred hours of instruction: now, however, they set sail.
